Make house panel’s result-oriented, speaker committee Chairmen

The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today asked the Chairmen of the Financial and other Committees of the House to ensure effective, meaningful and result-oriented functioning of these panels.

The Speaker was chairing a meeting with all Chairmen of Financial and other Committee of the House here to discuss and review the working of these Committees.

Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Chairman, Public Accounts Committee, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Chairman Public Undertakings Committee, Satpaul Sharma, Chairman Environment Committee, M Y Tarigami, Chairman Petitions Committee, Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar, Chairman Privileges Committee, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Chairman Subordinate Legislation, Bashir Ahmed Dar and Chairman Ethics Committee, Abdul Rahim Rather attended the meeting.

The Speaker asked the GAD in coordination with Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department and other concerned departments with regard to the implementation of the recommendations and observations contained in the report laid on the table of the House from time to time impressing upon them to strictly adhere to Rule 308-A of the Rules of procedure and Conduct of Business in J&K Legislative Assembly. He also called for close coordination between the Administration and the Assembly Secretariat.

The Speaker asked the Commissioner Secretary GAD, to submit Committee reports and recommendations given by the Committee earlier to the Assembly Secretariat within a period of one month for its scrutiny.

Deputy Speaker asked the concerned departments to ensure that implementation of the committee reports and recommendation on ground level so that the maximum issues of the people could be addressed.

Secretary General, Legislative Assembly, M Ramzan briefed the Committee about the functioning of the different Committee.

Director Information, Dr Arun Manhas assured the meeting that the Information and Public Relations Department will give due coverage of all its meetings in print and electronic media.

Secretary, General Administration Department, Khurshid Ahmed, Director General, (A&T) Finance Altaf Hussain Mirza assured the meeting that full cooperation will be given from the Government in providing timely material as well as reply of questionnaire to the Assembly Secretariat well in time.

Among others, Principal Accountant General J&K Accountant General’s Office H Abbas, Secretary Law, Abdul Majid Bhat, Special Secretary, Additional Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries and other senior officers of Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
