Anjuman-i-Auqaf Jamia Masjid Monday strongly condemned the continuous house detention of its president Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

The spokesman of Anjuman, as per the statement said that “by caging Mirwaiz, authorities have barred him from carrying out his social and religious responsibilities.”

“Anjuman had to call off the meeting which was to be presided by the Mirwaiz, to take stock of the preparations and arrangements for the worshipers at the historic Jama Masjid for the holy month of Ramzan commencing this weekend,” statement said.

The spokesman also castigated the authorities for not allowing Moulana Ahmed Syed, Naqshbandi, the vice president of Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid, to meet Mirwaiz at his Nigeen residence.
