Saaya organises seminar on drug addiction

Saaya, a non-governmental organization (NGO) in collaboration with the law students of Kashmir University, on Saturday, organized a seminar on ‘Drug Addiction and its Ill-Effects Towards Society’ in Vision Public School Kanitar Lal Bazar.

The Chief Security Officer of University of Kashmir, Mr Ghulam Hassan, was the chief guest. He interacted with the students and distributed prizes to the position holders.

He told the students that they should contact the nearest police station if they came to know about any case or information related to drugs.

Assistant Professor Department of Social Work UoK, Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed, spoke about the consequences of drug abuse and the difficulties the addicts have to go through. “The youth should come forward and propagate the message to masses. The drugs are a menace and it is a pity that people of all ages are fast becoming victims of drug addiction. This is causing a lot of damage to their health leading to deaths.”

The Principal of Vision Public School, Nazir Ahmed, who was also present on the occasion, praised the Saaya organization.

The event started with welcome address by Mr Hasnain Khawaja (President Saaya). The programme was coordinated by Muhammed Khalid Shah (Chief co-ordinator of Saaya). Hadiya bagged first position, Mehreen bagged second position and Salman bagged third position respectively in the seminar.
