Cong remembers Rajiv Gandhi on his 26th death anniversary

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), on Sunday, paid glowing tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 26th death anniversary. A function was held at Party Headquarters here.

The party described him as a man with great conviction, commitment, a visionary and an architect of modern India. Under Rajiv Gandhi’s leadership, the nation touched new heights in the field of education, computer science, science and technology.

Congress legislators, office bearers and senior party leaders participated in the function and paid floral tributes to him. The function was presided over by MLC Gulam Nabi Monga and MLA Haji Ab. Rashid Dar, MLA Usman Majeed, Mohd Anwar Bhat and spokesperson Farooq Andrabi addressed the function. The leaders observed two-minutes’ silence as a mark of respect of the deceased and described him as an architect of modern India.

Party leaders said the nation would continue to remain indebted to the Gandhi family for the selfless services and sacrifices given by it. “Rajivji introduced the Panchayat Raj System aiming to involve the people, at grassroots level, in their own developmental process. He introduced computer education and science technology that has brought India at par with the fast developing countries.

“This also proved a turning point in the development of the people especially those who were poorest of the poor. India has become a hub of IT due to the vision of Rajiv Gandhi.”
