As protest demonstrations have become an almost permanent feature of life in Kashmir during the last nearly one year, New Delhi seems to be going back to its old methods to find what it calls peace. In this regard it has come out with a new modified version for “normalizing” the situation in the restive Valley. Its new tactics would include isolating the Hurriyat leaders and engaging youth on a large scale in the summer months ahead. On the other hand, anti-militancy operations will continue on large scale while as new methods will be adopted on the Line of Control to ensure no militant manages to sneak in.

Reliable sources revealed to Kashmir Vision that after a series of meetings in New Dehi, jointly chaired by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Mintry of Defence with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval also present, a three point agenda has been set to ensure peace in Kashmir. “The first decision is to isolate Hurriyat leaders including the top leadership—Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik,” a source, privy to the plan said.

He said that it has been unanimously decided that there can be no dialogue with the separatists and that they should be dealt sternly as per the law “if they try to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere.” Sources said that as per the plan, a close watch will be ensure on all the separatist leaders so that they don’t succeed in instigating the youth which leads to law and order problems. In yet another decision of the plan, the security forces, including army, police and CRPF have been asked to adhere to the laid down Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) ad to make it a point that better and cordial atmosphere is created with the common people.

A senior MHA official, wishing not to be named, said that there is a multi-pronged strategy in place to deal with the situation in Kashmir and both ministries: MHA and MoD will be monitoring Kashmir closely.

“It has been observed that in Kashmir Hurriyat people are the trouble mongers while as on the LoC it’s the Pakistan, who is responsible for misadventures,” he said. “We have also a plan to deal and to scuttle Hurriyat’s hartal and call for protest strategy.” He said that on the LoC Army is fully geared up to deal with the possible chances of rise in infiltration this summer. “Latest watching gadgets have been procured by the Army to ensure zero infiltration this year,” said the official.

Interestingly, Arun Jaitley, who is in charge of finance and defence, recently told a presser in Srinagar, that there is a multi-pronged strategy in place to deal with militants while as he asserted that there can be no dialogue with anybody till peace returns.
