Creation of assets of public importance is Govt’s priority: Veeri

During a day-long tour of the district, the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Abdul Rehman Veeri, on Saturday, said that Government is committed for creation of assets of public importance on priority basis in the state.

He reviewed the ongoing work at the Trauma Hospital Bijbehara. He fixed November as the deadline for this project to be completed. This hospital would especially cater to the victims of road mishaps.

Veeri also reviewed the status of the shopping arcade that is being constructed in Bijbehara and costs Rs 4.76 crore. The arcade would house nine shops, a waiting room, 20 public washrooms, five bedrooms, meeting hall and a restaurant. The officers told him that it would be completed by August.

To expand the road network in the district, the minister directed engineers to speed up the process of macadamization particularly in Marhama and Srigufwara areas.

After this, Veeri visited ANM nursing College Akoora and directed the officials to complete the Nursing College project by August 20, 2017.

He sought details about the ongoing projects of PHC Veer, PHC Khiram, PHC Marhama and other key works of public importance in the area.

The minister also visited Mattan Hospital and enquired about checked the various healthcare facilities available in the hospital. He directed engineers to start macadamization of roads in the hospital premises. Following this he visited the proposed site of Tehsil Office Mattan and asked the officers to check the modalities for its speedy construction.

In the end, Veeri visited the Apple Resort on Bijbehara-Pahalgam road and directed officials to expedite its construction and turn it into a centre of tourist attraction.
