Authorities on Saturday prohibited the meeting of Hurriyat Conference (G) at Hyderpora residence of its chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani, reports said.

A spokesman said that the meeting was to discuss the issue of Provincial President of Hurriyat (G) Nayeem Khan against whom the ‘sting operation’ was conducted by a New Delhi based news channel.

A spokesperson of the group said, “We had called all the constituents for a meeting to discuss the issue of Nayeem Khan but a large number of forces have cordoned off the residence of Geelani sahib.”

He said that Hurriyat Conference has taken the matter related to Nayeem Khan “very seriously” and it was scheduled to be discussed in today’s meeting.

Meanwhile, a National Investigation Team (NIA) has reached Srinagar to  investigate the transfer of funds, days after the news channel broadcast the “sting operation” claiming some separatist leaders confessed to receiving funds from Pakistan.
