EJAC demands immediate release of DA, interim relief
Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Chief, Abdul Qayoom Wani, on Friday urged the state government to release the pending dearness allowance (DA) at the earliest. It also asked the government to release 20 per cent interim relief in favour of state government, public sector and temporary employees before the implementation of seventh pay commission.
Wani said that the regularization process of temporary employees was slow and had caused confusion among the employees. He demanded time bound regularisation as per the agreement.
He said that the Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu, had told him that release of DA, interim relief, regularisation of temporary employees, pay anomaly and implementation of Minimum Wages Act are under active consideration.
The finance minister had also assured that the pending salaries of employees working under different central sponsored schemes would be regulated keeping in view the difficulties faced by the employees due to non-payment of salaries.
Wani said that employees don’t want confrontation but unnecessary delay in resolving their long pending demands could invite defiance as the employees had suffered a lot. “Also, the responsibility of any kind of confrontation due to delay would lie on the shoulders of government.”
He later appealed the employees to be united to fight against injustice and for the restoration of dignity and honour of the employee fraternity.
