Botingoo Sopore residents took to streets to protest against defunct transformer

The inhabitants of Botingoo area in North Kashmir’s Sopore town on Saturday held a protest demonstration against the defunct power transformer in the area.

The protesters who were chanting slogans against Power Development Department demanded the restoration of the power supply as soon as possible.

“A month back we approached concerned authority to repair the damaged transformer since then we are reeling under darkness”, said Mushtaq Koul, a local resident of Botingoo.

The inhabitants alleged that department is adopting delaying tactics in repairing the defunct transformer and restoring electricity in the area.

 “We have been demanding to repair the damaged transformer several times in the locality but nobody paid heed and forced us to come to streets” locals alleged.

Meanwhile, the angry protesters appealed the higher authorities to look into the matter and solve their genuine problem.

However, power officials in Sopore town could not be reached for comments despite repeated attempts they added
