Mirwaiz put under house arrest ahead of joint resistance protest
Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was once again barred from offering Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid and participate in the blood donation camp organized in the vicinity of the historic Masjid that was organised in connection with Hafta-e-Shahadat programme, a statement issued by the amalgam said
“Mirwaiz addressed the gathering at Jamia Masjid through phone. Mirwaiz condemned the authorities for their aggressive and dictatorial approach in dealing with the resistance leadership especially in the context of slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on the ailing Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) Asiya Andrabi and her colleague Fehmida and shifting them to a Jammu jail,” the statement added.
“Thrusting of bans and curbs to contain the situation and maintain the status quo will not work. People of Kashmir are clear that our political will has to honour and it is for this cause that great sacrifices have been made. No amount of tyranny can deter the leadership and people from pursuing their rightful cause,” he said.
He appealed to the people to make the May 21 programme of paying homage to their beloved leaders a big success.
