KEG holds maiden meet with Director Information
Members of Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) led by its president, Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo had a maiden interaction with Director Information and Public Relations, Dr Arun Kumar Manhas to discuss various issues pertaining to the media fraternity.
During an hour long meeting, the members raised various issues including timely accreditation of the journalists, launching of journalist welfare scheme, setting up of press club in Srinagar, revision of rates for the newspaper advertisements, launching of health insurance scheme for journalists, categorization of the newspapers under new Advertisement Policy and rationalization of advisement distribution. The members discussed all the issues threadbare, urging the Director Information and Public Relations to adopt a rational and transparent approach to address the issues of the fraternity. Interacting with the members, Director Information and Public Relations, Arun Kumar Manhas assured that all their genuine demands would be taken up on priority. He expressed his satisfaction over the maiden meeting with the KEG members. He said that pressing issues of media fraternity would be addressed on priority.
The Kashmir Editor’s Guild was represented by its office bearers including Vice-Presidents Tahir Mohi-Ud-Din, Bashir Manzar, General Secretary, Masood Hussain and other members.
The meeting was also attended by Joint Director (headquarter) Department of Information and Public Relations, Abdul Majeed Zargar, Joint Director (Kashmir) Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Deputy Director (PR) Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Baba and other officers.
