Heavy clashes going on in Lal Chowk Anantnag

Clashes erupted in Lal Chowk Anantnag in South Kashmir between protesters and forces early morning today.

According to the reports, people came out in protests after Thursday’s alleged forces assault on shopkeepers.

According to the sources, Traders federation Anantnag had asked the business establishments to observe shut down on Friday in view of forces high-handedness of forces on shopkeepers on Thursday.

Meanwhile, reports said that forces lobbed teargas and PAVA shells to break up the demonstration, triggering clashes in the town.

Later police in a statement to the press said,  “some miscreants tried to enforce the shutdown in Lalchowk of Anantnag town by pelting stones”.

“Police reached the spot and chased the miscreants away with the help of the traders. Normalcy was restored and the market opened up”, it added.
