The veteran separatist leader, Syed Ali Geelani, on Thursday warned that the right-wing Hindu group, RSS, was working to turn Jammu and Kashmir into a Hindu majority state.

Geelani expressed his serious concern over the reports of proposed public meeting being organized in Srinagar by the RSS and said that after the Jammu province, Kashmir is the next target for carrying their bigoted agenda. Geelani said that these fanatical elements in 1947 brutally massacred five lakh Muslims and compelled rest of the Muslim population to migrate.

“Since the inception of the BJP-led regime in Delhi, these forces are hatching conspiracies and turned Jammu into a base station for their communal activities. The communal forces are distributing arms and providing training to Jan Sangh workers,” he said.

“Members of the Muslim community are harassed and intimidated on one pretext or the other and higher officials belonging to the Muslim community are transferred to far flung areas. We are keeping a close vigil and collecting details as such activities are detrimental. We will do whatever is possible and won’t leave the Muslim community in Jammu at the mercy of these fanatical forces,” said Geelani. He said that not only these communal forces seem to be preparing a ground for another massacre of Jammu Muslims but even domicile state subject certificates are being issued to non-state subjects.
