85 percent of 6600 candidates appear in CUCET-2017
Out of 6600 candidates who had applied for Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET-2017), about 85 per cent appeared in the entrance examination at different centres on May 17 and 18, respectively for admission to various Postgraduate, Diploma and Research Programmes offered by the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) and other fellow Central Universities across India.
The consortium of the varsities comprising Central Universities of Kashmir, Jammu, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Haryana were the participating varsities for the entrance test, which was conducted at three academic blocks of the CUK and other designated centres in the Valley and across the country. Two centres one each at Leh and Kargil were established for the students of the Ladakh region.
The programmes offered by the Central University of Kashmir included post-graduate programmes in M. Tech Information Technology, Tourism and Travel Management, Convergent Journalism, Mathematics, Economics, Education, Political Science, LLM, M.Ed, Comparative Religion, B.Ed, M.Com, M.P.Ed, Post-Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling, B.VOC Programme in Retail and Logistic Management and Integrated MPhil/Ph.D in Mathematics, Urdu, Education, Management Studies and Law.
The CUK faculty, officers and their allied staff were actively involved in the examination process, which was hassle free, smooth and fair.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir and Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar took stock of the examination process during their visit to various centers during the two days. They were satisfied with the conduct of the examination and hailed all the staff for successfully conducting the entrance tests for both the days.
Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir underscored the need of the national examination for attracting clientele from different States, besides, providing ample opportunity to the students of the Jammu and Kashmir State.
The nodal officer of the CUCET and Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar also complimented all the teaching and administrative staff associated with the examination. He particularly appreciated the efforts of academic section for their tireless contribution made during the run up and preparation for CUCET.
Prof. Zargar also appreciated the role played by all the participating Central Universities especially the Central University of Rajasthan, the coordinating university.
