Speaker chairs review meeting, assesses development works

Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today convened a review meeting to assess the progress of various development works being executed by various departments in Jammu division.

The Speaker had a detailed review of several ongoing development projects besides deliberating on strategies envisaging further streamlining of implementation of these vital works.

“The present dispensation has launched numerous innovative and reformative programmes aimed at empowering people especially under privileged segments socially, economically, culturally and politically as well”, the Speaker maintained while spelling out government’s initiatives in this regard.

Addressing the meeting, the Speaker asked the officers to see that quantitative and qualitative parameters of development works are maintained with their completion in time. He specifically mentioned the significance of effective execution of centrally sponsored schemes like AMRUT and UJJWALA and exhorted upon the concerned to redouble their efforts so that the objective behind launching such innovative schemes is achieved to the optimum. He also asked for timely submission of utilization certificates so as to maintain flow of funds from the centre for more growth related works in the state.

He also asked the department to ensure convergence among departments to avoid wastage of time in preliminary formalities. He asked them to come up with concrete need based and area specific project proposals for ensuring development of potential areas.

The Speaker directed JMC to coordinate with other departments for time bound completion of works. He also directed JMC to ensure fogging of the city for curbing menace of mosquitoes in the city. 

The meeting was attended by Commissioner JMC, M. Raju, SDM Sonu Pargal and officers of R&B, PDD and PWD.
