Anti-polythene drive conducted in Bijbehara

In order to curve the menace of use of polythene, the anti-polythene drive was Wednesday conducted in Bijbehara town of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of BDO Bijbehara, Ashfeen Ali Khan.

BDO along with Assistant Engineer, Tariq Ahmad Veeray and other officials inspected various shopkeepers in Semthan, Sangam, Sethar and Pazalpora villages of Block Bijbehara and fined Rs 200 each shopkeeper, found violating the norms.

Consequently, a sum of Rs 5600 was collected as fine from shopkeepers.

Talking with Kashmir Vision, BDO Bijbehara said that these drives will be conducted in the future too. “Anybody found violating the norms would be dealt with strictly according to the law,” BDO said.

Meanwhile, locals hailed the efforts of BDO and his team.
