UN chief watching tensions between India, Pakistan closely: Spokesperson
United Nations secretary General Antonio Guterres is closely watching the developments in the relationship between India and Pakistan amid the rising tensions between the two south Asia neighbors, sources said.
During a daily press briefing yesterday, Spokesperson UN, Stephane Dujarric told media that the UN chief is closely watching the developments and reiterates his need for the parties to find a peaceful solution through engagement and dialogue.
“I don’t think it’s a matter of reluctance. As I said, he’s obviously watching the situation very closely and reiterates his need for the parties to find a peaceful engagement through… peaceful solution through engagement and dialogue”, He responded to the question asked by the reporters at UN press briefing.
Dujarric has repeatedly said that Guterres is following the situation in Kashmir amid escalating tensions at the border between India and Pakistan.
The UN Chief has not made any direct intervention to resolve the issue and his spokesperson has repeatedly said the UN Chief reiterates his call for India and Pakistan to find a peaceful solution through engagement and dialogue to resolve the Kashmir issue.
