Participation of youth in national, international sports events encouraging: Minister

Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh today said that participation of J&K youth in national and international events reflects that Jammu and Kashmir State has vast sports talent which can earn a good name in the world of games.

This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the sports persons at a function held here today to accord warm send off to Ace fencer Vansh Mahajan for Singapore fencing championship.

Patron J&K Amateur Fencing Association Vijay Sharma, International Fencer Ujjwal Gupta, Ajay Khartol, besides Coach Karunesh Gupta, Anil Padha, Rajinder Kumar and Chottu Lal were present on the occasion.

The Minister while wishing success to Ansh appreciated the fencer for winning number of medals in international Fencing Championships. He said that the ace fencer has brought many laurels for the state and has made everyone proud of him.

Choudhary Lal Singh said that great work done in the past by state players including Kick boxing Champion, Tajamul Islam and the first Olympian Shooter of J&K, Chain Singh have brought laurels for State which inspires the youth to improve their sports skills in their respective games.

The Minister appealed the youth to channelize their energies in a right direction rather than falling prey to drugs and other social evils which will take them towards self-destruction. He termed sports as good option for youth to improve their personality.
