Hurriyat Conference (G) Monday denounced the statement of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, where she said that people have to choose between ISIS and Kashmiriyat. The separatist group said that people have opted for freedom and rejected slavery.

“It was a deliberate attempt to cover up the wrongdoings inflicted by the security forces. They are desperate to discredit and malign ongoing freedom struggle and as such giving unnecessary hype to ISIS threat,” spokesman of Hurriyat (G) Ayaz Akbar said.

“People of different faith are living in complete harmony and there is no threat to any person of any religion,” said Hurriyat.

Referring to Mehbooba Mufti’s masjid, temple and gurdwara remarks, Akbar said, “These places of worship are safe in the Valley.”

“Security forces are responsible for the continued violence and killings in Kashmir. Innocent are being killed, maimed and blinded. Thousands are languishing in jails and police lock ups. They are ill-treated and humiliated.”

Hurriyat spokesman while referring to Zubair Ahmad Turay, said that since last several years police chased, haunted and humiliated him. “During this period, more than eight cases of Public Safety Acts were slapped against him. Even though the court quashed his case and bailed him out, police did not honour the court’s order rather shifted him to different jails.”

“People of Kashmir prefer freedom over slavery while likeminded people have no choice but to bow their head to this decision.”

Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) while referring to DG police Sheesh Pal’s statement wherein he has said that no pro-freedom leader is detained and are free, said that its chairman Syed Ali Geelani is continuously under house arrest and heavy contingent of police and CRPF is camped outside his Hyderpora residence.
