Nine boys arrested for unfurling Pak flag

Pahalgam: Police on Monday arrested nine boys after they allegedly unfurled Pakistani flag at tourist resort Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

     Police sources said that a group of 9 boys from Budgam and Pulwama district arrived here in Pahalgam for recreation. Sources added that the group of boys attracted attention of crowd after they waved Pakistani green flag.

     As the news spread, a police team arrived on the spot and arrested the nine boys, one of them hails from Pulwama while rest are from Bandarpora village of Budgam district.

    Police sources identified the arrested youth as Adil Ahmed, Mayeen Ahmed, Muhamamd Israr, Aqib Ahmed, Javaid Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed, Suhail Ahmed, Abdul Wahid and Muhammad Abbas.

    A Police official from Budgam district confirmed that they received a call from Pahalgam Police Station about the arrest of these youth.

    When contacted, Station Head Officer Pahalgam declined to comment on the issue saying that only SSP Anantnag is authorized to speak on it.
