Inhabitants of Naikbagh Natipora Monday staged a protest against the Roads and Building (R&B) department for failing to macadamize the main road from Natipora to Nowgam in the area.

The residents while chanting slogans like ‘we want justice’ blocked the road near Naikhbagh Nowgam, which resulted in the traffic chaos in the area.

The protesting inhabitants alleged that the main Natipora to Nowgam road is in shambles for a long time while the authorities don’t even bother to look into the sufferings of the people.

“The main road in the area has developed potholes, which has resulted in the immense hardships to the commuters,” the protesters said.

They said that they approached the higher ups in this regard but unfortunately nothing has been done so far.

“Whenever we approach the higher-ups of R&B or Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in this regard, they usually blame each other for failing to conduct their work properly thereby resulting in inordinate delay in macadamizing the road,” the protesters added.

The protesters threatened to continue their protest till the demands won’t be fulfilled. “Until the road will not be macadamized, we will continue to protest to press the government for our demands,” they said.  Meanwhile, an official of the R&B department said that they are waiting for sanctioning of funds for the up gradation and maintenance of the road. ‘Once funds are sanctioned by the government we will take up the development of the road,” said.
