Workshop on ‘Journalism and Peace building’ ends at CUK

The two-day capacity-building workshop on ‘Journalism and Peacebuilding’ concluded at Central University of Kashmir (CUK) on Saturday.

The workshop was organised by Department of Convergent Journalism of the university in collaboration with Centre for Law & Development (CLD) and Kargil Development Project.

Speaking at the valedictory function, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir called on the students to capitalize on the opportunities offered by such workshops. “Even if there is a goldmine, if you are not able to tap it, it is of no use,” Prof Mehraj said.

He thanked the organizers of the workshop, adding that the university always appreciates new ideas and suggestions coming from organizations like CLD.

He appreciated the efforts of Convergent Journalism department for imparting practical training to students.

Presenting vote of thanks, Coordinator, DCJ, Asif Khan said the workshop was very productive and helped sensitize journalism students about the role of media in peacebuilding. “The curriculum at the department has been designed so that the classroom and field environment is coalesced to benefit the students”, he added.

The participants were given certificates on the occasion. The resource persons of the workshop were also felicitated by the Vice-Chancellor.
