Minister reviews situation in border areas

Minster for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today asked the district administration and security agencies to remain alert in the wake of prevailing situation in border areas of the State.

He was chairing a meeting of civil, police and security agencies convened to review the situation in the backdrop of Pakistan firing in border areas.

 SDM, RS Pura Susheel Kumar, Tehsildars RS Pura and Suchetgarh, SDPO, RS Pura, Naib Tehsildrs, SHOs and other officers of security forces were present in the meeting.

The Minister asked the administration to formulate a comprehensive contingency plan to meet any eventuality due to escalation of firing from across the border. He asked for indentifying suitable places for setting up relief camps in case of migration from the border areas.  “District administration should ensure all basic facilities including power supply, water supply, sanitation and information system at the already identified temporary shelter locations,” he directed. He also asked for making available adequate transportation facility to ferry people from the border villages.

He directed the administration to make available two bullet proof community bunkers at RS Pura and Arnia to accommodate the people shifted from the firing prone areas. He further asked the police   to maintain close contact with village heads, Numbardars and Chowkidars to get instant information about any suspicious activity taking place in their vicinity.

The Minister was informed that village wise population census has been prepared to have an idea of the number of vehicles required for ferrying people to the safer places and relief camps.
