Geelani demands release of DeM chief
Hurriyat (G) leader Syed Ali Geelani, on Saturday, expressed deep concern over the illegal detention of DEM chairperson, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader, Mohammad Rustum Bhat.
Demanding their immediate release, Syed Ali Geelani said that Syeda Aasiya Andrabi is suffering from multiple ailments and doctors attending Mohammad Rustum Bhat have recommended a surgery for him.
Criticizing PDP-led coalition, Geelani said that prisoners are subjected to vengeance and no proper treatment is being provided to them. Referring to DEM chairperson and her personal secretary, Sofi Fahmeeda, he said that their detentions are unjustified and they have been kept in solitary confinement in Rambagh police station.
Syeda Aasiya Andrabi is suffering from acute respiratory ailment and her health has deteriorated in the police station. “She is critical and keeping her in continuous detention may further deteriorate her health,” said Geelani.
Geelani expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of ailing THK leader, Mohammad Rustum Bhat, and in his appeal to human rights organization urged them to use their influence for his release.
Hurriyat (G) said that doctors of SMHS hospital checked Mohammad Rustum Bhat and recommended a surgery. He is neither being released nor is being given any medical treatment. “Bhat is suffering from blood pressure, diabetes, prostatitis and gallbladder infection and as per expert medical advice needs immediate surgery or his condition may go from bad to worse.”
Geelani warned state authorities and said that it is political vendetta against detainees and they must know that any such eventuality will have dangerous consequences.
