FM pitches for channelizing more investment in medical research
Minister for Finance, Labour and Employment, Dr Haseeb A Drabu, today addressed concluding session of 2nd J&K Medical Sciences Congress-2017 and first Annual Conference of MP-PCOS here and highlighted the need for quality research to harness the potential of young scholars for overall development of medical sciences in the State.
While addressing the valedictory session of the 2nd J&K Medical Sciences Congress and Metabolic Syndrome, Pre-diabetes, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Society (MPPCOS), the Minister said that the State Government will explore avenues for attracting investment to further expand scope of research activities in medical sciences in the State.
The Minister also asked academicians and officers of the Health Department to come up with proposals which will help in conducting quality research on profound issues confronting the medical sciences.
“The research on any disease whether lifestyle related or chronic is meant to make the society aware at early stages about various health hazards and in building a healthy society should be focus of a researcher,” he added.
On the occasion, Drabu also released a book titled ‘God’s people in
the milestones of my life as a Doctor’ by Prof Mohammad Yousuf. He also presented medals and mementoes to the young scholars and welcomed around 1000 delegates and scholars within and outside the State and abroad for attending the conference.
Chief Information Commissioner, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor Kashmir University, Prof Khurshid Andrabi, Director SKIMS, Dr A G Ahangar and Dr Ashraf, Professor of Endocrinology at SKIMS and Convener of the conference other officials were present and other concerned were present on the occasion.
