Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said that her government would think about providing security to Hurriyat leaders if they ask for it.

“If anyone asks security then we will think about it,” Mehbooba told reporters on the sidelines of a function at TRC here.

Earlier, Hizb ul Mujahideen commander Zakir Musa quit the militant group after the outfit dissociated itself from anti-Hurriyat statement.

Zakir Musa’s anti-secular comment has created rift within the groups top leadership and its active militants in the valley.

United Jihad Council chief, Syed Salluhidin has said that the militants on the ground should ask the leadership before making any statement.

Later, the militant commander quit the outfit, saying he stands by his statement and will not die for a secular state.
