Pregnant lady dies due to alleged ‘medical negligence’ in Anantnag
A pregnant woman of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district died Friday evening due to the alleged ‘negligence of doctors’ of Maternity and Child Care Hospital (MCCH) Anantnag.
Following the death, the family members and other locals of the area Saturday held protests in courtyard of MCCH Hospital against the doctors and management and demanded stern punishment to the guilty.
According to the protesting family members, Jamsheeda Jan, 30, wife of Waseem Ahmad of Brakpora Anantnag, was admitted to MCCH Anantnag on Tuesday after she complained of labour pain. She was operated on Wednesday at MCCH Anantang, but after a stillbirth she was referred in an unconscious state to SMHS hospital Srinagar and then from there she was referred to SKIMS Soura .
However, She breathed her last at SKIMS soura Friday evening.
The family alleged that doctors at MCCH Hospital didn’t operate her properly and so she was referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment.
“She died due to the medical negligence of doctors at MCCH Anantnag,” said a family member.
They demanded that there should be an independent enquiry into her death and those found guilty should be punished.
Meanwhile talking to Kashmir Vision of MCCH Hospital GM Bhat said that they have formed a four member investigative team headed by DHO Dr Khalid.
“They would investigate the matter and will submit a report within seven days. Those found guilty will be punished”, he added.
