Cobra appears in Rajbagh, creates panic
Panic gripped the residents of Rajbagh locality of Srinagar when a cobra was spotted in the lawns of a residential house in the area on Friday afternoon.
However, the authorities in the wildlife department failed to reach the spot on time thereby adding to the chaos and panic that the residents went through.
Talking to Kashmir Vision, the locals said that a cobra was spotted in the lawns of a residential house near JK Bank on Friday afternoon, which created panic in the area.
“About 5 ft long red cobra was spotted in the lawns of a residential house here. We immediately rushed to the safer places and contacted police and wild life authorities in this regard,” locals said.
However, the residents said that the authorities in the department failed to reach the spot on time. “We risked our lives and managed to capture the cobra on our own,” they added.
Locals said that they kept the cobra in a dustbin.
Accusing the wildlife officials for ignoring their plights, the residents said that the non-seriousness shown by the department must not be neglected and should be inquired in this regard.
The dustbin carrying the red cobra was later taken away by a Journalist.
“The negligence shown by the wild life authorities forced the residents to risk their lives, which must be highlighted. I reached the spot to cover the incident. However, I found the residents risking their lives by capturing the cobra on their own as no wildlife official was present there,” the Journalist, Rifat Abdullah said
“Despite repeated attempts by the locals, the authorities in the wildlife department failed to reach the spot,” he said.
When contacted, Regional Wildlife Warden Srinagar, Rashid Y Naqash said, “I will look into the matter as to why the employees failed to reach the spot on time.”
