Srinagar-Leh highway to reopen in few days: Govt

The district administration Ganderbal on Wednesday said that it would take a few days more to reopen the Srinagar-Leh highway, linking the Ladakh region with the Kashmir Valley.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Tariq Hussain Ganie who visited Zero Point Zojila today said that the work to clear roads, covered with snow is ongoing at Zojila pass and zero point areas in Ganderbal district.

He said that the traffic on the highway will be allowed to ply in a few days. “Besides clearing snow on roads, the active avalanche sites exist on the Zojila Zero point at few places will be cleared following which the road will be thrown open for vehicular movement,” he added.

Ganie said that the men and machinery has been pressed to clear the roads to ensure safety of every commuter as well as the passenger.
