Scholarships handed over to meritorious students

Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Bukhari today inaugurated a day long awareness camp organized by Social Welfare Department at Dak Bungalow Baramulla.

MLA Baramulla Javed Hassan Beigh, MLA Gulmarg Mohammad Abbass Wani, District Development Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nassir Ahmad Naqash, besides a large number of people were present on the occasion.

The Minister also distributed an amount of Rs 1.23 crore under Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarship among the 4228 meritorious students and handed-over move-rover tricycles to differently-abled persons.

          Bukhari expressed satisfaction over successful organization of the camp and said that employment generation and skill development programmes have been launched for the benefit of the people and are being implemented with dedicated efforts.

He said the Government is providing Pre-Matric, Post-Matric scholarships besides scholarships for studying abroad and for achieving professional degrees to differently-abled students. He said such camps not only serve as an important source of awareness for the people, but also ensures transparency and fairness.

          MLA Baramulla Javed Hassan Beigh stressed for putting more efforts in helping out people having disabilities so that they are benefitted from various state and centrally sponsored schemes.

MLA Gulmarg Mohammad Abbass Wani appreciated the role of the concerned department for conducting such camp in the district.

DDC Baramulla, said while speaking on the occasion said being with special need is not a limitation; however, there is need for support, affection and adequate training for such people. The DDC called for bringing in more efforts in this regard.
