Police sounds alert after ‘car hijacked’
An alert was sounded on Tuesday evening by police after suspected militants hijacked a car from Gudoora village of Pulwama district in south Kashmir.
A police officer said that one Muhammad Rafiq Dar of Samboora village of Pampore reported in Police Station Pulwama that a group of gunmen hijacked his Alto Car (White in colour) at Gudoora village. The police officer said that subsequently a case under FIR number 05/A/17/79 was registered.
“Police have sounded an alert. All the police stations, control rooms and security agencies have been alerted following the hijacking of the car by suspected militants. We have alerted government forces along National Highway to foil any attack by suspected militants,” the officer said.
Just after the car was hijacked, gunshots created panic in Kralcheck village of Chadoora in Budgam district. Police said: “We have received a report that about 20-40 gunshots were heard at Kralcheck. There was however no report of injuries or death. Police are ascertaining the facts,” adding that the security has also been alerted from Budgam.
Meanwhile, suspected militants this evening attacked a police party at Kumdalan village of Shopian district in south Kashmir. Official sources said that the militants attacked a cavalcade of senior officers at Shopian but there were no injuries to anyone. “Soon after the attack, a search and cordon operation was launched in the area by forces,” they added.
