World Red Cross Day celebrated in Srinagar

In connection with World Red Cross Day, various programmes highlighting the significance of the Day were held today at Government Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh, Srinagar.

To mark the Day and promote its humanitarian values Blood Donation Camp, Painting Competition and Seminar was organized by State chapter of Indian Red Cross Society at the school.

Approximately 50 points of blood was donated by the volunteers, prominent among them was Shabir Ahmad, who had already given 151 blood points at different camps.

Students from different schools of the Srinagar district participated in the painting competition in which Nargis Shakeel of Government Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh bagged first position.

A seminar was also held highlighting the role and importance of Red Cross Mission. Afnan Ali of Presentation Convent School got the best orator prize.

On the occasion, various speakers stressed the need of augmenting Red Cross Society so that it can play role in rescue and relief during any eventuality effectively.
