Opposition Congress and Awami Itehad party (AIP) Monday protested the opening of Darbar move offices in Srinagar as their workers hit out on the roads to demonstrate against the anti-people policies of the government.

Defying police restrictions dozens of AIP workers led by party chief and MLA langate, Er Rasheed, tried to gherao the civil secretariat here in Srinagar. Protestors were holding placards, banners and black flags in their hands and were raising slogans against the use of continuous force against the students and general masses.

AIP leader, Er Rashid, said that the security forces used force to prevent protest march from moving to the secretariat. Rasheed, Inam-u-Nabi and Dr Bari Nayak were arrested and lodged at Shaheed Gunj and Raj Bagh police stations.

While talking to media before being arrested Er. Rasheed said that new secretariat has become the graveyard of aspirations of the majority community and every notorious move by New Delhi is disempowering the majority community.

“To protect the unique identity of the state all non-state subject officers of all cedars have to be deputed back to the central services or their respective states”, he said.

Er. Rasheed also lashed out at the government for banning Pakistani TV channels in the Valley.

“Banning thirty-four TV channels just for the reason that most of them are preaching Islamic teachings is yet another proof that Indian is heading fast towards becoming a radical Hindu fascist state”, he told media before his detention.

Meanwhile, Congress also staged a dharna against the anti-people and wrong policies of the ruling dispensation of PDP-BJP government. The party also peacefully protested against use of force and interference in the Institutions, as a result, the situation has deteriorated to the large extent.

The party described the ruling dispensation as anti-people, responsible for the innocent killings and injuries to scores of people including students and “common people due to excessive use of force on peaceful protesters agitating against the brutalities and ant- people policies of the PDP BJP ruling dispensation.”

The sit in dharna was by Congress President G.A. Mir in which MLAs, MLCs, officers bearers, senior leaders, district presidents and frontal organization heads participated and lodged a strong protest against the PDP BJP govt, which “has proved very costly to the people of entire J&K state in every respect, resulting in deep hurt feeling among the common masses.’’

Mir lashed out at ruling dispensation for the current worrisome situation and described the PDP BJP as a great threat to the integrity and secular fabric of the state. “The situation is more dangerous than it was in 1990s for which both state and Central Governments are responsible. People in entire Valley are in deep alienation due to the wrong policies adopted by the govt’’ said Mir.
