2nd JK Medical Science Congress-2017 to be organized at SKICC from May 10

Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura is organizing 2nd JK Medical Science Congress-2017 and 1st Annual Conference of MP PCOS Society in Srinagar.

The two mega events are being inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti at SKICC here on 10 May 2017.

The theme of the conference is “Non-Communicable Diseases in Developing Countries”.

 

To be sponsored by the Science and Technology Department of J&K Government and MP-PCOS Society, the mega conclave is being organized in collaboration with JK Universities, Medical Colleges and Directorates of Health Services under the patronage of Director SKIMS DR A G Ahangar.

According to Dr Ashraf Ganie, Convener of the conclave, the medical issues to be discussed during the deliberations include diabetes mellitus, obesity, PCOS, strike, CVD, hypertension, lifestyle related cancers, trauma and road accidents, thyroid, bone disorders, toxicants, drug addiction, smoking, psychiatric morbidities, medico-legal issues and technology & medicine.

He said the 3-day event would include thematic medical sciences exhibition, panel discussions, paper presentations, workshops and plenary lectures. “Medical achievers and young scientists would be awarded at the conclave,” he said.

Dr Ashraf said that coinciding with 2nd JK Medical Science Congress-2017, the Department of Endocrinology, SKIMS will be also organizing 1st Annual Conference on Metabolic Syndrome-Pre-Diabetic PCOS at SKICC.

He said the conference will deliberate on challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of PCOS. “The conference is scheduled to be attended by medical practitioners of national and international repute in the fields of endocrinology, gynecology, dermatology, gastroenterology and related fields,” he said.
