Students protest in Aripanthan to demand release of schoolmate
Dozens of students of a private school in Aripanthan in central Kashmir’ Budgam district Monday staged a protest demonstration to demand the release of their detained schoolmate.
Sahil Ahmad, a student of the sixth standard, was detained by police last Thursday during a nocturnal raid in the area. Sahil was allegedly arrested in place of his elder brother Adil.
According to the police, Sahil’s brother Adil is wanted in many stone-pelting cases.
Sources said that Sahil Ahmad was lodged in Magam police station for three days.
Latest reports suggest that Sahil was released while the protests were going on in the village.
