The government will face a tough time as the Opposition parties have decided to stage protests on the opening of offices here.

Congress will lead from the front and has decided to hold protests against PDP-BJP led government over use of “excessive force’’ against recent student protests.  Congress is scheduled to hold a sit in outside party headquarters at MA Road against what it termed as “defunct policies” of the government.

Talking to Kashmir Vision, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President,  G.A. Mir, said that, “ We have decided to hold a sit in over the force that has been used against protesting students, in which many have been injured,” he said, adding that “we will also be demanding the unconditional release of all those students who have been arrested.”

Congress has said that it will protest against the government for its “repressive” policies. “As the secretariat is going to open, we have decided to stage protests against the repressive and rigid policies of the government,” said Congress Vice President,  G.N. Monga.

Terming the situation in the state as chaotic, Monga said that “the students are on streets and are getting injured almost every day. Many have been arrested; there is total chaos in the state.”

Stating that the party will  protest against the working of the alliance, Congress leader Monga said,  “ the sort of statements that are coming from PDPs alliance partners and from Chief Minister are a different. The parties BJP and PDP speak in two voices.’’

National Conference (NC) spokesperson, Imran Nabi Dar, hit out at the government, stating that the “ situation is volatile in the state and the government is doing nothing. It  (Govt) seems to be helpless as of now. Excesses committed against students is deplorable.”

Awami Itehad Party (AIP) has also scheduled  the march to secretariat  in the morning tomorrow. “We have decided to march towards secretariat and stage protest over  the excesses committed against the students in recent days,” said,  Er. Rasheed, Chairman of the AIP. “ The Agenda of Alliance (AOA) is a farce, with the result the PDP has also become a communal party  as they are being directed by the BJP to follow a certain course of action.”
