JKReTTF accords grand reception to Itoo

The Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar e Taleem Teachers Forum (JKReTTF) today accorded warm reception to Dr Ghulam Nabi Itoo (KAS) on his taking over as the Director School Education Kashmir.

As per a JKReTTF statement, the forum representing over sixty five thousand Rehbar e Taleem teaching community hosted a grand reception at the Conference Hall of Directorate Srinagar to welcome the new DSEK.

Speaking on the occasion, JKReTTF Chairman Farooq Ahmad Tantray gave a detailed overview of the Rehbar e Taleem scheme. He highlighted the contribution of ReT teaching community in increasing the literacy rate of the state and ensuring cent percent enrollment of students from the poor and marginalised communities of the state.

Tantray also highlighted the role of Rehbar e Taleem teachers who worked with passion and dedication in the most difficult conditions and revolutionized the education system by opening schools in far flung, cut off and inaccessible areas of the state.

Tantray said, that Rehbar e Taleem teachers taught in high altitude areas, braving all odds, the tough terrain and difficult topography and gave prime of their life for the service of this state by working on a paltry and meagre amount of rupees fifteen hundred per month for five long years.

The JKReTTF Chairman thanked State’s Education Minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari for his praiseworthy steps in rejuvenating education department and making sincere efforts to minimize ReT grievances like salaries etc.

Tantray welcomed the appointment of Dr G N Itoo as DSEK and hoped that his appointment to the top post will usher a new era of academic excellence in Valley. He extended his full cooperation on behalf of ReT community in making the state a knowledge hub. He also hoped that all issues pertaining to ReTs will be prioritized and resolved so that the teachers will concentrate on their primary duties.

Director School Education Dr G N Itoo in his address expressed satisfaction at the performance of ReT teachers and advised the teaching community to act as role models in the schools. He assured the timely redressal of all genuine grievances of ReTs and said the instructions for resolving issues being confronted by ReTs have already been issued.

On the occasion, Joint Director EE Mehboob Hussain also spoke and urged the teaching community to employ all their energies to impart better education to students and also play their part in checking social issues like drug addiction.

The reception was also attended by Joint Director Abid Hussain, Personal Officer DSEK Zahoor Ahmad Raina (KAS), OSD IMW Ghulam Mohiddin, OSD Cultural and Media wing Ghulam Nabi Lone Shakir, Dr Abdul Majeed Bhat (Incharge Publication), senior officials and JKReTTF state leadership.
