JKFA celebrates grass root football day

As a part of Asian Football Confederation, (AFC) Grass roots football day, Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) celebrated the day by organizing various football activities in Srinagar.

The activities include a friendly match among two teams raised out of about 200 disabled teenagers from a Disabled school in Solina area of Srinagar held in Synthetic turf Football stadium Srinagar.

AFC Grassroots day is a celebration of Football held every year in the month of May throughout Asia. It focuses on getting kids of the age group six to Twelve together and play football. The key concept of the programme is to bring together as many people as possible through Football.

 “AFC Grass roots Football day is celebrated throughout Asia every year in the month of May. We celebrated this day by giving grassroots training to the disabled students,” JKFA officials said

“The celebrations will continue for the whole week and various football activities of different levels, forms and competitions will be held.” JKFA officials added

People were seen enjoying the football event held for Deaf and Dumb children as it was a unique football activity happening in the Football stadium near Tourist Reception Centre (TRC).

“It is for the first time that a football event for the disabled children was held. They should organize more events like this to support them,” a local resident said

The football activities were conducted by various coaches and senior players associated with JKFA.

“The motive behind this event is to link disabled children with the football as they are the neglected lot and it is giving us immense pleasure that we are doing something for them,” Irshad, a coach said 

The event was attended by Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, secreterary Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council. Besides other top football coaches and players of the valley were also present at the event.
