Burglars pose as policemen, Loot cash, cell-phones from labourers

Introducing themselves as policemen, a group of three burglars carrying ‘toy’ guns and pistol entered into a room occupied by Bihari labourers at Rangpora Illahibagh on the night of April 26 last month. The house is owned by Bashir Ahmed Dar.

Police sources said that the burglars disguising as cops lined up all the labourers for verification purpose.

     “They directed the frightened labourers to handover their cell phones and cash. The burglars took away 13 mobile phones and Rs 27000. They asked these labourers to visit the police station next morning and collect these cell-phones and cash from there,” a labourer said.

     He said before this incident, a number of theft cases were reported from the same area. 

      An FIR vide number 14/2017 under section 392, 457 RPC stands registered at police station Zakoora in this regard.

      In another incident in the same area, burglars looted gold and jewellery worth Rs 35 lakh from the house of one Ghulam Muhammad Bhat.
