Student protest in Handwara trigger clashes, many students injured

About ten students were injured when scores of students of Government Degree College Handwara and Govt Higher Secondary school today staged protests outside the college premises against the forces action students across the valley. 

Clashes erupted when students tried to march towards main town of Handwara and were stopped by the forces. The students resorted to the stone pelting and forces retaliated with heavy tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters.

The clashes between forces and students resulted in injuries to 10 students. One of them was said to be critical and he was later referred to SMHS Srinagar for special treatment.

Meanwhile all shopkeepers downed their shutters and traffic movement was suspended in whole town.
