J&K Contractors Welfare Association has sought personal intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who also holds the portfolio of Tourism Ministry in mitigating the sufferings confronting contractors.

The Association in a statement issued here said that an official has misappropriated the funds released as additionality in March 2017 for clearing liabilities.

“The officer in question has distributed the funds in clandestine manner to some blue-eyed contractors without following due procedure thereby pushing genuine and deserving Contractors to the wall,” the statement reads.

“After protesting against the approach of the said official, he instead of clearing the air is absconding, thereby not only affecting the functioning of the department badly but also our interests. In wake of his absence, the departmental work has come to a standstill,” the statement reads.

The Association appealed Chief Minister and Secretary Tourism to take cognizance of the matter and get the pending liabilities of contractors released.
