JKLF holds a peaceful protest against Shopian crackdown, attacks on students

JKLF leaders and activists hold a peaceful protest rally at Lal chowk Srinagar against Shopian crackdown and attacks on students.

JKLF leaders and activists along with people from many walks of life gathered at Madeena chowk and held a peaceful protest march towards Budshah Chowk. Holding placards in their hands and raising slogans against ongoing repression JKLF leaders held a peaceful sit-in in Budshah Chowk.

JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik while condemning the ongoing oppression in Jammu Kashmir has said that the crackdowns, hooliganism, vandalizing whole villages, beatings and terrorizing people has and will never succeed in breaking the will of Kashmiris.

Terming the crackdown of more than thirty villages in Shopian as a ploy to terrorize people and force them into submission, JKLF chairman said that beating common people, vandalizing their homes, orchards and vehicles, humiliating young and old and terrorizing whole population has and will never succeed in breaking the will of the people of Jammu Kashmir.

He said that people of Kashmir have witnessed and bravely faced these kind of oppressive measures from last many decades but have always resisted all this with passion and valor.

“History of nations bears a witness to the fact that oppression and suppression have never succeeded in defeating nations striving for their freedom and liberty and India and its stooges in Jammu Kashmir should also bear this fact of history in mind”, said Yasin Malik.

JKLF Chairman termed the shelling and firing on students at Sopore as ugly face of Indian oppression,

Malik also condemned the arrest of JKLF senior activist Mushtaq Ahmad of Koreg Ganderbal who was detained by police yesterday.

According to the statement issued here, the leaders who participated in the sit-in include Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Javed Ahmad Zargar, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Sideeq Shah, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Professor Javed, Ashraf bin Salam, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Mehraj ud Din, Muhammad Haneef and others.

Meanwhile a condolence meeting was held at Chanapora on the death anniversary of JKLF member, Advocate Peerzada Iftikhar Ahmad, who was killed by the security forces in 1994.
