Deteriorating condition of Dal Lake: Street play held to sensitize students, faculty

The students of the Department of Tourism Studies (DTS), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Wednesday organised a street play on the theme “Aakhri Naad by Dal” at Nowgam-I academic block of the university.

The play was organised to sensitize other students and faculty members about the need to conserve and preserve the world famous Dal Lake. During the play conceptualized by Assistant Professor, Department of Tourism Studies, Faizan Ashraf Mir, the students highlighted the plight of the Lake and underscored the need to save it, considering its significance to the livelihood of the people and the impact, its shrinking boundaries are having on tourism in Kashmir.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, hailed the efforts of the department and also congratulated the students for performing the play.

The event was hosted by Head and Dean, Department of Tourism Studies, Prof. S Fayyaz Ahmad and was witnessed and appreciated by the all the staff members and students.

The event was followed by the ‘save Dal’ signature campaign where in all the dignitaries stamped their hand impressions on the wall banner as a mark of concern towards the plight of the Dal.
