Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, Abdul Rehman Veeri, said that digitization of land records is a pivotal development in the mapping the land assets in the State.

The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the Quality Check Centre for digitization of land records at Revenue Complex here today.

Veeri said that clarity in land ownership will also reveal the quantum of land possessed by a person, eventually enabling the latter to purchase land, give deeds, enter mutations and do all kinds of land transactions at the press of a button. He also said that government and revenue officials will also have exact details of the land available in the State on completion of the digitization process.

To rule out any errors, the Minister impressed upon the officers to compare online data with manual data and directed them to seek help from experienced hands who have gathered substantial expertise in revenue matters over the years.

On the occasion, the Minister was briefed by representatives of RAMTECH Solutions, (which has been entrusted with the job of computerization of land records in the State) about the status of digitalization of land records in Jammu and Srinagar, informing him that digitization of land records would soon be taken up in other districts also. The representatives also informed the Minister that the Agency will also take up digitized cadastral maps, integrate textual and spatial data, conduct survey/re-survey wherever required, update records of rights and develop a robust web-based GIS for a total end-to-end solution.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmed Lone, Director Land Records, Vikas Kundal, and other senior officers of the department accompanied the Minister.
