The graduate level examination conducted by JK Service Selection Board (SSB) for various posts in different government departments has exposed callous and non-serious attitude of the exam conducting body to conduct test under a fool proof system.

The aspirants who appeared in the said exams on April 27 in various districts accused the invigilators and the exam conducting body-SSB of making mockery of the exams by promoting mass copying inside the exam centres designated for candidates across Kashmir.

“The authorities made a mockery of exams and allowed candidates to use cell phones inside exam halls,” the agitated aspirants said.

The aggrieved candidates said SSB failed to conduct exams in a fool proof system and allowed influential candidates to take breach the norm of the exams centre.

“There was no essence of exams inside the exam halls as candidates were allowed to take help from each other for answering the questions,” they said.

Moreover, the candidates said the pattern of the question paper was flawed as there was inconsistency and repetition of questions in the paper.

“The question paper is full of flaws. It has no consistency in terms of section wise marks as prescribed in the syllabus,” the candidates said.

More to the mockery of examination, SSB has selected outdated questions in the current affairs section of the question paper.

“The question asked in current affairs had a relevance two years ago, which is a history now. The exam was conducted in 2017 but they ask current affairs questions from 2015,” the candidates said.

The aspirants accused SSB of jeopardizing the career of thousands of students who appeared in the said exams wherein influential candidates reap benefits of corruption which is deep rooted within the system.

“The test conducted on April 27 was mired in controversy with faults in framing questions which obstructed the candidates initially and later with the repetition of questions,” they said.

They said the question number 84 and 148 in J&K section was repeated. “This is height of callousness on part of SSB authorities. They didn’t rectify it but approved the same paper for exams,” they said.

The aspirants demanded the cancellation of the exams and said the SSB should notify the dates for re-examination within fifteen days.

“Besides Kashmir region, there was mass copying and cheating in exam centres of Jammu region as well. So authorities should cancel the exams and notify dates for re-exams,” the aspirants said.

Meanwhile, no official from SSB was available for comments.
