Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, denounced use of forces on students and teaching staff in educational institutions. He said that such mistreatment won’t be tolerated and no one will be allowed to play with the future of students.

Condemning police raids and thrashing of students in Pulwama and Shopian colleges, Geelani said that the state authorities were pushing youth to the wall and compelling them to resent. “It is a ploy to ruin their future,” he said.

While referring to Polytechnic college incident, Geelani said, “The authorities are hatching conspiracy against students, they are being detained and Pulwama-like events are being repeating in other educational institutions.”

“We are keeping close vigil over the situation,” said Geelani and if forces do not exercise restraint, the authorities will have to face consequences.

Reacting to the recent statements of BJP chief Amit Shah and BJP leader Ram Madhav, he said that the authorities in Delhi are turning a deaf ear to the hard realities in the Valley.

“Stubborn attitude and harsh measures neither did any good in the past, nor will they prove to be of any help in the future,” Gelani cautioned.

Taking a dig at the ‘Jan Sangh’ ideology, Geelani categorically said that there is no space for their obsessive views on Kashmir and they can never change historical realities about the state.
