The road leading to Kuthoou Sirhama area from Wopzan Bijbehara is in a dilapidated condition which is giving commuters a tough time. The locals have demanded urgent repairs of the road link.

A group of locals said the road has been in a pathetic condition for past 20 years “as the concerned department has failed to pay attention to the woes of the residents and commuters”.

Residents alleged that they have contacted MLA Bijbehara, Abdur Rehman Veeri up teem times, but all in vain.

Interestingly, the road in question is considered as an important road as it connects many villages with Bijbehara town.

“This road connects higher secondary Wopzan and other important institutions and should have got an earliest attention,” Sajad Ahmed, a resident of Wopzan said.

Students of the area are preferring to study in other far higher secondary schools due to bad condition of this road, Sajad added.

AEE R&B Sub division Bijbehara, however said that this is a genuine grievance.

“We have already received directions from PWD minister, Nayeem Akhtar to start work on this road and I hope work will be started within a fortnight,” he said.
