Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, GA Mir Saturday said that the Centre’s decision of not holding talks with separatists is a humiliation to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. He said that the alliance between PDP-BJP has come to an end in the true sense, but the lust for power would not allow them to break it.

Snubbing Chief Minister for misleading the people on ‘Agenda of Alliance’ (AoA), Mir said as per Mehbooba Mufti government talks with all stakeholders, including Hurriyat was at the top of the agenda.

“The Chief Minister lied to the people on this count and that both the partners were never on the same page. People have understood that the AoA was only a power sharing formula between PDP and BJP,” Mir said.

Expressing disappointment over the decision, Mir said that there was a need to adopt a holistic approach involving all stakeholders in order to create a congenial atmosphere to restore normalcy in the Valley.

“Narendra Modi government should push peace initiatives to bring the Valley out of the current crisis, and not adopt a rigid approach as it will certainly backfire, which neither will be in the interest of Centre nor the state,” Mir cautioned.

“We cannot remain mute spectators to the hostile situation, as it is ultimately the common people who suffer. They will continue to suffer unless the problem is addressed, as promised to the people by PDP,” Mir added.

“Congress party has always supported talks with all stakeholders, including Hurriyat, in order to bring the state out of turmoil and it will continue to support the peace process to restore normalcy in the state, especially in Valley,” he said.
