The joint separatist camp has called for a complete  shutdown on Sunday to protest the killing of an elderly man in Panzgam Kupwara by the government forces, sources said.

While talking to reporters, a Hurriyat (G) member said that the shutdown is to “protest the highhandedness of government forces as they continue to kill, injure and maim Kashmiris of all ages.”

The member appealed for a complete shutdown on April 30, Sunday.

Earlier, rejecting the statement of District Collector of Kupwara for initiating an inquiry in the case, Geelani said that state level inquiry commissions are unacceptable as till now not a single culprit was brought to book.

While blaming the forces, Geelani blamed the state administration for unleashing violent measures against civilians. He expressed his solidarity and sympathy with the family of slain Gh Hassan.
