GoC Victor Force regrets Pulwama incident

The army today said that the assault on students in Pulwama Government College was unfortunate and said that the measures are being taken to curb stone pelting by protesters near encounter sites.

GOC Victor Force B S Raju said that the incident that took place in Pulwama Government College was unfortunate.

“The incident was unfortunate. I had sent an officer to the college to talk to the principal for holding a programme. The officer took a Casspir vehicle in view of the volatile and stone pelting incidents in Pulwama town. But as soon the vehicle reached at the College entrance, it was pelted with stones,” the GoC said.

On the videos in which army soldiers were beating youth inside a vehicle, the GOC said that the army will not tolerate any indiscipline.

The army officer was in Tral to attend an interactive programme with Gujjar-Bakerwal people in Tral to assess the security situation and the programmes being implemented under Operation Sadhbhavana for development of remote areas.
